Thor: The Dark World - Trailer Review

Thor: The Dark World - Trailer Review
A mysterious dark power has set about destroying everything it touches. And Earth is next. Luckily Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is zapped over from Asgard to rescue his Jane (Natalie Portman) and take her (a mere mortal!) back to Asgard. Nevertheless, the dark power's reach is intergalactic and is also present in Asgard. Thor must battle the ancient evil force of Dark Elves, led by Christopher Eccleston's Malekith, to stop the imminent invasion.

The action looks impressive with many a building and landscape coming under the destructive force of the Dark Elves.

After the events of Avengers Assemble though, it's hard to notice the difference between Armageddons and makes you wonder why the other team members don't turn up to help this time! Instead Thor has to turn to his evil (imprisoned) brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) for help. I sense a double cross/escape coming...

Kenneth Brannah exceeded expectations with the first standalone Thor film; creating a lush and impressive Asgard, complimented by stark desert setting on Earth. Alan Taylor (Game Of Thrones director/exec producer) steers Thor: The Dark World into a more familiar, relatable and textured territory; the urban city, the rural woods, and back to Asgard as well.

Iron Man 3 is Marvel's next outing showcasing a standalone Avenger. Thor held his own in Avengers Assemble, adding a Game Of Thrones veteran to the mix can only be good, right?

Thor: The Dark World is released 30 October in UK.
