It’s that time of year - Oh no it isn’t - oh yes it is!

Yes, Pantomime season has arrived and it wouldn’t be complete without a Rock ’n’ Roll Pantomime from the Everyman Theatre!

From the creative brilliance of Sarah A.Nixon and Mark Chatterton, this year’s Everyman Pantomime takes you on a journey beyond the sea with The Little Mermaid.

When the evil Ivanna tricks Mermaid Marina into trading her voice for a pair of legs so she can walk on land, it’s a race against time to stop Ivanna before she takes over the ocean and steals the heart of Marina’s true love!

Yet while this may sound similar to the classic Little Mermaid story, the Everyman’s pantomime is unlike any story you’ve seen before. There’s homages to classic TV shows, some incredible fishy disguises (look out for Keast and Tucker’s ‘twin’ security guards - absolutely hilarious!) and one-liners that will have you crying with laughter throughout the night.

Starring Pantomime favourites Adam Keast and Francis Tucker as Captain Nemo and Pearl, this duo are an unstoppable comedy force. Every year they never fail to make me laugh and this year might just be one of their funniest performances yet. Look out as they infiltrate Ivana’s secret lair for their brilliant physicality, amusing disguises and reactions that are perfectly timed to have you chuckling non-stop. It was one of my favourite parts of the show and I just can’t get enough of this terrific team.

Joining them are a fantastic cast including Stephanie Hockley and Tom Connor as Marina and Flounder. Their duet of ‘Can’t stop the feeling’ is a feel-good sing-along that makes you smile, sing and embrace the energy of this amazing pantomime. You just can’t help but smile as you watch The Little Mermaid and Hockley and Connor’s vibrant energy and outstanding performances add to these feel good vibes throughout.

Speaking of feel-good vibes, the music throughout the show is incredible. From classic rock songs, to theme tunes accompanying character entrances and pop songs to have you grooving throughout the night, not only will you be dancing throughout the night, you’ll also be in awe of the amazing multi-talented cast and their magnificent musicianship. Tom Connor’s guitar solo during ‘Don’t stop me now’ was worthy of standing ovation, while Lucy Thatcher’s accompanying vocals (and indeed in every song she sang) were phenomenal. Thatcher gave each song her all, as did Stephanie Hockley and Jamie Noer whose beautiful duet had you gripped onto each word and every note.

With a superbly designed set and costumes, every aspect of The Little Mermaid was perfectly produced. I absolutely loved it.

Perfect for the entire family, The Little Mermaid rock ’n’ roll pantomime is five star fun that will have you laughing, cheering and singing through the night.
