Remember the 90s when comedy wasn’t just crowbarred into every half hour slot on Dave and more about stand-up and sketches than panels of comedians quickfiring comic responses to topical questions?

Stewart Lee spent the decade garnering a reputation as a cerebral, left-wing comic. Lee has since donned a variety of Worzel heads such as writer, stand-up, director, producer, script editor and rock critic. His latest television series, ‘Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle’ aired to critical acclaim and was BAFTA nominated, The Guardian said of it: ‘His performances unfurl like a stroll on a summer’s day: scenery and good companionship take precedence over destination.’

This month Stewart Lee brings his new show to the Liverpool Philharmonic and if The Guardian are to be trusted, it’ll offer welcome relief on a cold and gloomy night in March.
