News: The Undertones to play the Liverpool o2 Academy

The Undertones: Damien O'Neill, Billy Doherty, Paul McLoone, Michael Bradley & John O' Neill

Are you ready to get those ‘Teenage kicks’ again? Brilliant Irish rock band The Undertones are back in Liverpool this month and about to rock the O2 Academy.

Formed in Derry during the late 1970’s, the band quickly rose to fame with the release of post-punk anthem ‘Teenage kicks’. Released on Good Vibrations Indie label in Belfast, the song is infamous for its memorable lyrics and unmistakable guitar riffs. Championed by legendary Radio one DJ John Peel, it was once played twice in a row on Peel’s show.

Signing to Sire Records, their success continued with the release of seminal songs including ‘Here comes the Summer’ and ‘My Perfect Cousin’. Their show at the 02 Academy is your chance to see this brilliant band for yourself.

If you saw The Undertones back in the 70’s, or if it’s your first time witnessing these post-punk legends for yourself, this is one show you do not want to miss.

The Undertones will be at the Liverpool O2 Academy on Saturday 30th May 2015.
